You asked for quality education and networking that doesn't take you away from the office for too long and can fit into your department's budget. We designed this eight-hour competency-based Workshop using content from NAEP's Procurement Academy Tier II. It immediately follows the Great Plains Regional Meeting and is priced for members at $210. Attendees may complete an assessment at the end of the Workshop to receive their certificate.

This eight-hour competency-based Procurement Professional Workshop is for the mid-level career professional who manages a program and/or people within the Procurement department. The competency focus is on Communication, Strategic Agility and Relationship Building

Competency-based Education

The Procurement Professional Workshop is a competency-based certificate course of study mapped to NAEP’s Competency Model. We have used the NAEP Competency Model to align the Workshop to specific, measurable objectives and outcomes (use your NAEP member login to view). As a result, you can develop skills and increase capabilities in competencies expected of your position and experience level within higher education. Attendees will complete an assessment at the end of the Workshop to receive their certificate.

 

Presenters

Nancy Brooks, MPA

Assistant Vice President for Business Services from Iowa State University (retired)

Nancy is Retired Assistant Vice President for Business Services from Iowa State University. She has been with ISU Purchasing since 1989. Her purchasing career actually began in the private sector, as a purchasing agent in a large manufacturing facility. Her background also includes a number of years in the construction management field. She received her B.S degree in Business and a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Administration from Iowa State University.

 

Burr Millsap, CPA, M.B.A.

University of Oklahoma, Norman Campus

Byron Burr Millsap, CPA recently completed his thirty-year career as the Associate Vice President and Chief Purchasing Officer for the University of Oklahoma. He is a Certified Public Accountant. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Central Oklahoma, and his Master of Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma. He teaches courses in Accounting and Financial Management, and has written texts on these subjects. He is a faculty member of the NAEP Professional Development Academy, has served many years as Associate Editor of the NAEP Journal and as a director on the NAEP Board. He is the recipient of the 2016 E&I David H. Lord Award for Cooperative Purchasing and has received several NAEP awards throughout his career. Notably – and extremely special to him – his service includes eight years as a director on the E&I Board, three of those years as President. Burr is a retired Commander of the United States Navy Supply Corps, having served eight years of active duty during the Viet Nam War era, and twelve years in the active Navy Reserve. He is an Eagle Scout.

 

Registration Fee

NAEP Members: $210 for eight hours of education

Non-Members: $300 for eight hours of education

 

Continuing Education Hours

Attendees at this event will earn 8 hours of continuing education. These hours may be applied toward ISM's C.P.M. / CPSM / CPSD recertification and/or A.P.P. re-accreditation, or UPPCC's CPPO/CPPB certification or recertification program requirements.

 

Great Plains Regional Meeting

The 2019 Great Plains Regional Meeting theme is "Value Added Procurement". Join the Great Plains team for great education and activities from Sunday, September 15th through Wednesday, September 18th in Des Moines, IA.


Hotel Information

Hotel rooms will be offered at the same rate for both events. NAEP has secured a discounted room rate of $149 plus applicable taxes for a single or double. Cancellation Policy

Registrant requests for refunds must be submitted in writing to NAEP c/o Martez Bryant. Cancellations postmarked or received on or before September 1, 2019, are entitled to a full refund less a $50 processing fee. No refunds will be granted for cancellations made after September 2, 2019.

CONFERENCE NO SHOWS are liable for the full amount due. Substitutions are accepted and valid for this event ONLY. You will need to obtain the registration confirmation number for the person whose registration you will be using.
