Just a quick note to catch everyone up on the efforts that are underway since the annual conference. First let me note that it was great to see everyone who was able to attend what proved to be a great experience in Kansas City, and I look forward to seeing everyone at the next annual conference inNashville.
As I noted at the annual meeting, we are in a fantastic position to move our organization forward! We have a very dedicated and talented new Executive Director in Krista Ferrell. Our membership actually grew for the first time in many years under Nichol’s presidency, thanks in part to our efforts to bolster regional membership through collaborative efforts with E&I.
We continue to work on the strategic plan that will lead this organization into its second100 years of existence. We are trying to make the process as inclusive as possible with member surveys and focus groups to help us synthesize information that will guide our planning efforts. Thanks to Krista and Howard Teibel for helping to navigate us through this 8-month process. We believe that all of the pre-work will be well worth the effort.
Committee structures and make-up have been reworked to make them more relevant and efficient.Bylaws and membership fee structures have been reviewed with suggested changes, but we are awaiting the outcome of the strategic planning effort to bring these forward. We are also excited to announce the new NAEP Leadership Symposium (formerly the Innovators Forum). We are in the process of reshaping this event to provide more value and relevance for our members.Stay tuned for more information to be announced shortly. We are also reviewing our educational offerings and delivery methods.
Our focus is also on NIGP’s recent announcement to offer a new certification and educational offering announcements from similar associations. We are also in close conversation with E&I about the recent retirement announcement by Tom Fitzgerald. With all of the recent and ongoing changes, we want to make sure that we are in the best position possible to continue to excel as the best Educational Procurement Association in the nation, if not the best in the world!
Please reach out to me, Krista, your district representative or any of the board members if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions. NAEP is a tight knit community! We need to communicate with each other to make sure we are ALL on the same page. Thanks for your help!
