Back by popular demand, Jennifer Adling and Lesley Nall Washington share their expertise on contract management and the strategies they have implemented at Texas Tech University to better manage the contract management process from the procurement phase through contract close-out. This presentation, originally shared at the 2016 NAEP's Annual Meeting in San Antonio, TX, gives tips on how to improve the contract management process to provide better oversight.

Jennifer Adling, Managing Director of Procurement Services, Texas Tech University
Jennifer currently serves as the Managing Director of Procurement Services for Texas Tech University and Texas Tech University System. In this role, she oversees the offices of Purchasing, Contracting, Payment Services, PCard, Travel, Property Surplus, and Vendor Services.
She received her Certified Texas Purchaser and Certified Texas Purchasing Manager from the State of Texas in 2001. Jennifer serves on the E&I Cooperative Services Strategic Sourcing Committee, serves as the secretary of the Texas Oklahoma Arkansas, and Louisiana region of the National Association of Educational Procurement, and serves as president of the Caprock Public Purchasing Association.
Jennifer was the project leader for the SciQuest implementation and continues to serve as administrator of the system. In addition, she was the procurement leader for the Banner (Ellucian) implementation project in 2008. Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Science in Personal Financial Planning from Texas Tech University.
Lesley Nall Washington, Attorney for Administration & Finance, Texas Tech University
Lesley currently serves as the Assistant Managing Director for Procurement Services at Texas Tech University. In this role, she drafts contracts and policies, manages the departmental training and procurement staff education plans, assists university departments with contract negotiations and informal dispute resolution, advises on risk assessment, and assists the Managing Director with oversight of procurement operations. Previously she was an embedded attorney, overseeing the Contract team within TTU Procurement Services, and chaired the TTU Compliance Committee.
She is also a graduate of the TTU Presidential Leadership Institute and is the Administration and Finance Division liaison to the International Affairs Council at Texas Tech University.
Lesley received both her Bachelor of Arts in French and Juris Doctorate from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas and she is a licensed attorney in Texas.
